Believe it or not, hula hooping is great exercise! Even if you don’t work it like those magical hoopers, you are still moving your body and working your abs. It is considered an excellent ab-building aerobic exercise. While you move that hoop around your waist and core, you are toning and strengthening your abs. You are literally using all of those muscles in your middle while having more fun than the average ab work out.
It only takes about 10 minutes of hooping to get a decent aerobic ab work out in. This could be the warm up to your work out. A little something to get you pumped up, warmed up and ready to get a positive work out in. I like to start with a little hoop sesh and then end with one as well to keep those positive vibes flowing. Because let's be serious, hula hooping does way more than tone and sculpt the abs and get the body moving, it also lifts the mood.
I recently purchased a weighted hula hoop. I’ve wanted one for the longest time but haven’t been able to find one weighted to my liking (I really wanted one that was at least 4 pounds). I settled on a 2.5 pound hoop (heaviest I could find) and I love it. It's padded so your body doesn’t bruise with the weight and it just makes for a more intense ab (and for me, arm and leg too) work out.
