The Ultimate Detox Tea
2 inch chunk of fresh ginger root, peeled and cut into slices
2 inch chunk of fresh turmeric, peeled and cut into chunks
1 tsp raw honey
1/4 lemon, juiced
pinch of cayenne pepper
8 - 10 oz hot water (or however much you would like to drink)
Put a pot of water on the stove to boil....you’ll hear your pot scream when its done. If you don’t have one of these pots, feel free to use a pan on your stove top or microwave your water in a microwave safe mug or measuring cup.
Next, peel and cut your ginger and turmeric. A tip for peeling these two wonders: use a spoon or the blunt side of a knife to more like scrape off the outer layer. Using a fruit/veggie peeler ends up taking off more of the root rather than just that unwanted outer skin...and we can’t be wasting these wonderful roots!
Place all ingredients into the mug you are going to drink the tea from, including the fresh squeezed lemon juice. Add the hot water and stir to dissolve the raw honey. Let steep for about 5 minutes and enjoy. This tea is so warming, it will make you feel amazing from the inside out almost instantly.
Tip: The longer the steep the stronger the flavor and benefits. I like to make this tea in a travel mug that keeps hot drinks hot for hours on end. I make it early in the morning and drink it when I get to work giving it at least 2 hours of steeping. You can also make this tea in batches and reheat when you are ready for another mug full.
What's so amazing and detoxing about this tea, you ask? Well.....

Lemon: A big immune system booster, lemon is fully loaded with vitamin c and antioxidants. Lemon also aids in digestion by kickstarting the production of bile. Lemon helps flush toxins out of the body and aids in the reducing the production of mucus (great when you’ve got a serious cold and the boogers just keep flowing). Lemon is an antibacterial. It helps your body maintain its pH levels as well as purifies the blood. Lemon contains potassium which is good for brain and nerve cells, and it also helps to maintain eye health. Lemon is another element that is good for the skin.
